Blockworks Lets Exchanges Take Compliance Alerts Straight From AI Agents

Agentic Detection, live Thursday in Messari Monitoring, lets a listings or compliance desk take a development the moment Blockworks’ agents find it, before an analyst has checked it. Every alert carries a tag saying whether an agent or an analyst produced it.

Blockworks will let crypto exchanges and banks take compliance alerts directly from AI agents, without waiting for a human analyst to sign off.

Analyst verification took roughly five minutes per development, the company said. A proprietary model trained on years of Messari analyst work now identifies alerts in seconds. That puts a machine-generated flag into listing, delisting and surveillance decisions exchanges have to defend to auditors and regulators, and it moves the choice between speed and verification to the customer’s desk.

Agentic Detection goes live Thursday inside Messari Monitoring, the asset monitoring product Blockworks acquired with Messari in June. Every alert is tagged either Agent-detected or Analyst-verified. Analyst-verified stays the default on every monitoring view, and customers switch Agentic Detection on view by view, according to the company.

“As onchain activity scales, the market prices events in seconds rather than minutes,” Blockworks co-founder Jason Yanowitz said. “Our customers told us they now need alerts in near real-time. Agentic Detection allows them to hear from our agents first and get the analyst’s verification second.”

    Five Minutes To Seconds

The detection layer was built from seven years of analyst coverage of the same kinds of events, Blockworks said, and its analysts continue to verify developments and refine the agents.

Monitoring already ran on agents before Thursday. Messari launched the product on May 4, five weeks before Blockworks announced the acquisition, describing it then as “agentic surveillance” and telling customers they would “get notified on substantiated developing events, before they’re fully verified.” Blockworks says analysts manually verified each development until Thursday’s release.

The current product page carries two states. An event is stamped Messari Verified once the analyst team signs off; events that arrive before that are marked Developing and ship with

    What The Agents Read

The agents read X, GitHub, governance forums, Discord, Telegram, project blogs and more than 1,000 newst page puts the total number of ingested

Each development is sorted into Messari’s event taxonomy and carries theThe published taxonomy documents 12 categories, among them security and hacks, legal and regulatory, token supply, token listing and performance, each with its own subcategories. Blockworks describes the classification behind Agentic Detection as roughly 10 categories and 55 subcategories

Monitoring delivers through Slack, email, mobile push, webhooks and an API, per the product page, which lists handoffs into PagerDuty and Jira. Blockworks also names Telegram as a delivery channel.

    Who’s Using It

A majority of tier-one exchanges and custodians use Monitoring to track the assets on their platforms which declined to name customers. Several exchanges and infrastructure providers using the product had asked for direct access to agent output, the company said

Teams that tried to build the same monitoring in-house with general-purpose models stalled onls

The product page names four buyer types: exchanges and broker-dealers running pre- and post-listing diligence, infrastructure providers watching for forks, upgrades, exploits and outages, institutional risk and compliance desks, and crypto funds tracking holdings.

    The Messari Deal

Blockworks bought Messari on June 12 for more than $10 million, against the roughly $300 million valuation Messari carried in 2022. The purchase followed a Series A extension that closed in April at a $192 million valuation, co-led by ParaFi and Reciprocal Ventures, with Coinbase Ventures, MoonPay Ventures, Advancit Capital and more than 20 investors from portfolio customers including Solana, Kraken, LayerZero, Polygon and Jito.

Announcing the deal, Yanowitz said that as markets move onchain, “the winning platform will combine trusted data, issuer-provided disclosures, onchain activity, market intelligence, and AI-native workflows.” Monitoring’s API and webhook delivery is the piece that lets a customer’s own systems, and its own agents, consume the output.

The product still carries the Messari name on its own page. Blockworks says the relaunch runs under the Blockworks brand. Its site lists Analytics, Prices, Investor Relations and Advisory as its products.

Blockworks was founded by Yanowitz and Michael Ippolito and is based in New York.
