💳 Can you pay for ChatGPT Plus with USDT without a bank card? Yes — and in several ways. We break down which option is the fastest, where fees are lower, how to avoid overpaying, and why many users choose a crypto card instead of gift cards. 👇

In 2026, ChatGPT’s audience surpassed 900 million people, and the stablecoin payments ecosystem, by some estimates, includes more than 40 million active addresses. These audiences overlap, but the payment methods available to them still don’t match, as OpenAI still does not accept digital currencies. Still, it is possible to pay for a ChatGPT Plus subscription using stablecoins

The Incrypted editorial team looked into which crypto payment methods are available, how they differ, and what to do if your payment is declined.

How Much Does a ChatGPT Subscription Cost, and How Can You Pay for It?

OpenAI offers a free version of ChatGPT, but it comes with limits on the number of prompts, file uploads, and access to certain tools. Users who need higher limits, more capable models, and extra features can choose one of the paid plans:

    • Go — a subscription starting at $8 per month with higher limits compared to the free version
    • Plus — a $20-per-month plan with expanded limits and access to additional features
    • Pro — a $200-per-month subscription for users who need maximum limits 🤖
    • Business — a corporate plan starting at $20 per user per month when billed annually
    • Enterprise — a solution for large companies with custom terms and pricing

In the web version of ChatGPT, subscriptions can be paid for with a credit or debit card, and in certain countries, local payment methods are supported. When you subscribere — the Apple App Store or Google Play

However, direct payment in cryptocurrency is not supported, so you can’t pay with digital assets directly — you first need to convert them to fiat or use them options

    Paying with a Crypto Card

Crypto cards let you use digital assets for everyday payments. The user tops up a linked wallet or app with cryptocurrency, the service converts it into fiat, and OpenAI receives the payment through the card network.

Card terms depend on the specific service, so before choosing one, you should check availability in your country of residence, supported assets and networks, fees, limits, and verification requirements.

One option for users in Ukraine is the Trustee Plus mobile crypto wallet with a virtual Visa card.

The card is issued in US dollars and has a separate balance. You can top it up with assets supported in the app, with the list and availability depending on the region. If needed, stablecoins or other tokens can be swapped within Trustee Plus.

After topping up, you use the card like a regular virtual card, and for OpenAI the payment goes through the banking infrastructure. To pay for a ChatGPT subscription

    1. Install the Trustee Plus app and register an account.

    2. Complete identity verification (KYC) to get access to the payment card.🤖🤖

    4. Transfer stablecoins to your Trustee Plus wallet. Use only the address and blockchain network specified in the app.

    5. If needed, swap your assets into a stablecoin supported for card top-ups, and transfer the required amount to its separate balance.

    6. Open the ChatGPT website, choose a plan, check the final amount including taxes and conversion, then enter your card number, expiration date, and CVV.

    7. Confirm the transaction and check your subscription status in your account settings. 🤖

Before sending the transfer, double-check the asset, address, network, fees, and limits — a mistake in the details or the selected network can lead to a loss of funds.

    Paying

Crypto exchange services let you swap crypto for hryvnia or another fiat currency, with the funds credited to a bank card. After that, you can use the card to pay for ChatGPT. 🤖

To compare exchangers, you can use the Obmify aggregator. It shows available routes, rates, reserves, limits, ratings, and reviews for each service.

Terms depend on the specific service. In some cases, the exchanger or bank may request identity verification and proof of funds origin. You can learn more about exchange services and other ways to cash out cryptocurrency to a card in our overview article.

    Payment

Unlike an exchanger, on a P2P platform the user sells stablecoins to another participant. The exchange provides the marketplace and holds the cryptocurrency in escrow until payment is confirmed.

Available currencies, banks, and payment methods depend on the platform, region, and account settings, but the general flow looks like this:

    1. Open the P2P section and select selling the required asset.
    2. Specify the fiat currency, amount, and payout method.
    3. Choose a counterparty with a high rating and a sufficient number of completed trades.
    4. Create an order and share your bank card details only within the trade. Do not accept payments from third parties. 🤖
    5. Wait until the funds are actually credited to your bank account, and only then confirm receipt of the payment.
    6. Use the bank card to pay for ChatGPT.

Do not release the cryptocurrency until the money has actually hit your account — a bank notification, receipt, or screenshot does not confirm payment.

You can find a detailed guide to using P2P platforms in our article on withdrawing funds from Binance.

    Paying With a Gift Card

Another option is to buy an Apple or Google Play gift card with crypto.

You redeem the code in the relevant app store, after which the funds are credited to your Apple Account or Google Play balance. You can then use them to subscribe in the ChatGPT mobile app, although the price may differ from the web version. 🤖

You can buy gift cards with crypto on:

    • Bitrefill — a platform with gift cards, mobile top-ups, and other digital goods
    • Coinsbee — a service with Apple, Google Play, and other brands’ cards
    • Cryptorefills — a marketplace for buying gift cards and topping up mobile service using stablecoins and other digital assets.

The gift card’s country and currency must match the region of your Apple or Google account. If they do not match, the code may be rejected, or you may be asked for additional proof of region. 🤖

In addition, the denomination must cover the full subscription cost, including taxes and any potential price difference, and Apple or Google may also require you to link a backup payment method.

    Which Payment Method to Choose

The choice depends on how often you need to pay, whether you have a bank card, whether you are familiar with P2P, and whether you are subscribing

MethodHow it worksWho it’s forWhat to consider
Crypto cardThe user tops up a virtual card with digital assets and enters its details when paying for ChatGPTFor recurring payments for goods and online servicesVerification, regional availability, fees, limits, and supported assets
Crypto exchange service 🤖Crypto is exchanged for fiat, which is credited to a bank cardFor a one-time conversion without issuing a crypto cardFees, minimum amount, liquidity, final rate, and possible verification
P2P platformThe user sells crypto to another participant and receives payment to a bank cardFor users with P2P trading experienceCounterparty rate, third-party payment risk, and the need to confirm the funds have arrived
Gift cardA top-up code for the App Store or Google Play is purchased with cryptoFor subscribing via the mobile appRegion match, sufficient denomination, possible requirement for a backup payment method, and complicated code refunds

Comparison of the main ways to pay for a ChatGPT subscription with cryptocurrency. Data: Incrypted.

A crypto card is convenient for recurring payments, while for a one-time conversion it’s usually easier to use an exchange service, and P2P is best for those who are already familiar with choosing counterparties and verifying transfers. 🤖

A gift card is best treated as a backup option when subscribing

What to Do if ChatGPT Won’t Accept Payment

When you use a crypto card, an exchange service, or a P2P platform, the final charge still goes through a payment card, so the reasons for a decline are no different from a standard subscription payment. In OpenAI’s guidance, they list several ways to fix the issue:

    1. Check the card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing address.
    2. Make sure you have enough funds available, including taxes and currency conversion.
    3. Check the billing address and ZIP/postal code, and make sure the card was issued in a supported country.
    4. Clear your cache and cookies, or open the payment page in another browser or in incognito mode.
    5. Allow pop-ups and complete any additional payment verification if your bank requests it.
    6. Turn off your VPN, ad blocker, and pop-up blocker.
    7. Contact your bank or card issuer to confirm the transaction isn’t being blocked.
    8. Try another card or a supported payment method. 🤖

OpenAI usually doesn’t receive the exact reason for the decline from the bank, so if the steps above don’t help, the company recommends contacting support.

When using a gift card, the issue can come up even before you subscribe — for example, if the code’s region doesn’t match your account region, the balance isn’t enough, or the store requires a backup payment method. In that case, contact Apple or Google support, or the card seller. 🤖

    Key Takeaways

OpenAI does not accept cryptocurrency directly, so before you subscribe, you need to convert it to fiat, use it

For users in Ukraine, Trustee Plus offers the most all-in-one option — a wallet, USDT-to-USDC conversion, and a virtual card are all available in a single app.  However, no matter which method you choose, it is important to check the supported network, fees, limits, and the service’s regional restrictions in advance.

No. OpenAI does not accept cryptocurrencies or stablecoins directly. To purchase a subscription, you need to convert them to fiat, use them via a virtual card, or use them to top up your app store balance.
One of the simplest options is Trustee Plus — users can store and exchange assets, as well as issue a virtual card, all in one app.
Yes. Through an exchange service, you can convert stablecoins into hryvnia or another fiat currency, receive the funds to your bank card, and pay for the subscription.
On a P2P platform, the user independently chooses a counterparty and sells assets to them, while the exchange holds the cryptocurrency in escrow until the deal is completed. An exchange service processes the request at the stated rate and transfers the money to the card.
Yes, if the subscription is purchased through the ChatGPT mobile app. To do this, you need to buy an Apple or Google Play gift card with cryptocurrency and redeem the code. The card’s region must match your account region, and the card’s value must cover the full cost of the subscription.
